A Soup Swap with NPR Chef Kathy Gunst
Come to a Soup Swap! It’s time to come together and build community. It’s time to share soup. Come join the Resident Chef for NPR’s Here and Now and award winning food writer Kathy Gunst.
When: Saturday Feb. 18th 2017, 4 p.m. until the soup is gone...
Where: Rakestraw Books
What: What’s a soup swap? It’s a party where you taste many delicious soups, salads, bread, and more. It’s a way of sharing food and community. It’s a way to decompress from the craziness of the world. It’s a way to be with friends, meet new friends, and share delicious food.
How: Here’s how it works. Everyone brings a large pot of soup (or two small pots of soup—one to heat up and serve at the party and one to divvy up for take home leftovers). We enjoy each others soup and have a party. At the end of the night we divvy up all the leftovers and go home with lots of soup to enjoy in the coming week (or tuck into the freezer to enjoy later this winter).
What should I bring?
- Bring a large pot of your favorite soup. It can be vegetarian, chowder, meat-based etc.
- Bring plenty of leftover containers to bring soup home—Mason jars, old yogurt containers, etc….
- Bring any garnishes or toppings you need for your soup—grated cheese, herbs, croutes, etc. Bring a ladle to serve your soup (put your name on it, or a ribbon, please. They all look the same!) Bring a bottle of wine if you like.
- PLEASE bring a portable burner or a slow cooker or a Crock pot to help us heat up all the soups.
Please RSVP by calling us at (925) 837-7337.
