SATURDAY, 23 SEPTEMBER 2023 / IN-PERSON
Meg Zucker, Born Extraordinary
in conversation with Mark Mahaney
Rakestraw Books is thrilled to invite you to join us for a special Saturday morning event with author, mom, and activist Meg Zucker on Saturday, 23 September 2023 at 9:30 AM.
Meg Zucker was born with one finger on each hand, shortened arms and one toe on each foot, a result of a hereditary condition called ectrodactyly. With the support of her parents who championed her abilities, Zucker learned to ignore how others perceived her and went on to become a successful attorney. But when she passed the same condition to her sons, Zucker says her “old innate pangs of shame” returned, and she had to start the learning process all over again. Zucker joins us to talk about her new book Born Extraordinary: Empowering Children with Differences and Disabilities and the wisdom she’s gained about how to empower kids to talk about – and flaunt – what makes them different.
During her visit to Rakestraw Books, Meg Zucker will be joined in conversation by Mark Mahaney, one of the contributors to the book. Mark is on the Board of Las Trampas, a non-profit focused on assisting adults with developmental disabilities. There will be time for audience Q&A.
